Oakland County Moms Calendar of Metro Detroit Summer Events
Mwindo – Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit presents MWINDO, a central African folktale full of trials and tribulations, heroic beings, fantastical creaters and puppets developed by Detroit Puppet Company in collaboration with Mosaic’s young artists. Guests that arrive 45 minutes before showtime for a special make-and-take puppet workshop. This is a FREE event.
Detroit Halloween Bash – Food and drink will be available for purchase. There will be music, a dog costume parade at 6p, pick up a free trick-or-treat bag for your pet, raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and more. Detroit Santa Claus Pet Photos – Detroit K-9’s team of professional photographers will photograph your family & pets in a beautiful holiday scene. A $5 donation is suggested with 100% of the photo proceeds benefiting Dog Aide, a non-profit organization with the mission to provide assistance to dog owners in the City of Detroit that are experiencing a financial hardship. Cocoa and Caroling – Attendees will be serenaded with music from artists Audra Kubat and Isis Damil, enjoy cocoa and cookies, and more. Hosted by dso.org.
Detroit New Year’s Eve Kids Countdown – Enjoy live entertainment, NYE activities, food trucks, winter lights displays and a countdown and balloon drop. This is a FREE event. Hosted by Downtown Detroit Partnership.
Campus Martius Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Skate – What’s more romantic than gliding along the ice hand-in-hand with your sweetheart while enjoying majestic views of the Detroit skyline? The rink will be lit up with the colors of love and feel-good ballads and classic love songs will fill the air. All couples are welcome to join this celebration of love. Tickets and skate rentals may be purchased onsite at the park and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Admission – Adults $12, Under 12 $9.
St Patrick’s Day Irish Fest – Celebration of traditional Irish music, song and dance with the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance, the Gavin family and more. Irish food and drink available for purchase. $10, Under 12 years old FREE. For more info, contact Michael at 313-537-3489.
