Hess-Hathaway Park Waterford
BEST PLAYGROUNDS & PLAYPLACES IN OAKLAND COUNTY
Hess-Hathaway Park is home to the Lone Cedar Historical House, several sports fields, USDA Animal Farm Exhibit, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball courts, a picturesque gazebo, two pavilions, and fitness trails around the perimeter of the park. There is even a community garden inside the park where residents can rent plots to grow fresh vegetables.
The star attraction of the park may be the impressive All Kids Playground, a giant playground that incorporates a farm theme to match the area’s heritage and history. The Hess-Hathaway Playground is fully enclosed which makes keeping an eye on kids ideal. The playground was launched in 2002 through donations but it is impeccably maintained, it even features a neat kids maze.
Most of the attractions at Hess-Hathaway are well-maintained. The fore-mentioned playground, gazebo, and giant barn are in beautiful condition. One of the pavilions, the community building, and parts of the animal exhibits look a bit dilapidated and could use an upgrade.
Annual events held at Hess-Hathaway include
- Sheep Shearing Event and Pancake Breakfast
- The Thursday Nights Free Summer Concert Series
- Big Wheels Keep on Rollin’
- Harvest Happening
- Summer Day Camps
The park pavilion, gazebo, and community building are all available to rent for parties and events. Kid’s birthday parties include animal tours and a hayride.
