Willow Creek Lake Orion Review and Pics

Willow Creek Lake Orion review, pics, and info. Willow Creek on Lapeer Road in Lake Orion, Michigan features 2 mini golf courses, 2 driving ranges, and baseball batting cages. Former Detroit Lion Mike Weger has owned Willow Creek Golf and Sport Center for over 30 years.

I’ve been taking my family to Willow Creek for mini golf fun for years and I’ve been going to Willow Creek for years. I first started going there decades ago as a kid growing up in Shelby Township. I enjoy Willow Creek because it has an “Up North” feel of mini golf / batting cage attractions without being overly touristy or heavily crowded. Willow Creek is very large and wide open. It’s a great, inexpensive way to spend spring and summer days with kids.

WILLOW CREEK LAKE ORION MINI GOLF

Willow Creek Golf and Sport Center has 2, 18-hole mini golf courses – “Walk In The Woods” and “Sports Mountain”. “Walk In The Woods” is one of the original courses. Walk In The Woods is a scenic par 39 course winds its way along a creek through heavy vegetation. Many holes are elevated and you’ll stroll the heavily-wooded course using many well-maintained stairways. Despite its age, Walk In The Woods is well manicured and quite beautiful. You’ll see quite a few chipmunk friends darting through the course as you play! Fair warning – bring the bug spray if you’re planning on picking this course if the weather is particularly hot and humid.

Sports Mountain is a wide open and sprawling par 40 putt putt course that features a different sports themes and obstacles at each hole. Sports Mountain is a bit more modern and my kids love the different color “greens” at each hole. The course plays through a large, man-made nature “mountain”, waterfall, and large creek that runs into a large pool. You’ll see plenty of frogs and toads along the creek. My family plays both courses quite frequently but prefer Sports Mountain overall.

Willow Creek Lake Orion Batting Cages

The batting cages are along the path leading to Sports Mountain. The Willow Creek batting cages feature 5 hubs for both baseball and softball practice. Tokens are $2 each and allow for 20 pitches. You can choose what you want at each hub without having to wait for the one you want like at most batting cages. Once you insert your token, you choose Baseball or Softball. If you choose Softball, you can choose between slow, medium, or fast pitch. For Baseball, you can choose your round to pitch to you at 40 mph, 50 mph, 60 mph, or 70 mph.

Willow Creek Lake Orion Driving Range

Willow Creek has an expansive driving range. You can even opt for an elevated range on a deck. There’s also a practice sand trap. Willow Creek’s driving range converts to a golf dome in the winter months.
