Adventures of the Frolic Riders Author Interview – interview with Annette M Johnson, author of the Adventures of the Frolic Riders children’s book.
Adventures of the Frolic Riders is a chapter book that will interest horse lovers and mystery solvers. It is written by local Michigan author Annette M Johnston, who writes the book based on her own life experiences. I interviewed Annette M Johnston to find out more. Here’s the interview with local Michigan author Annette M Johnston:
Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – How long have you lived in Michigan and in what area?
Adventures of the Frolic Riders Author Annette M Johnston – I was born and raised in Michigan, in Port Huron. I own a hobby farm in Anchorville, and have over 30 critters. I have a llama, horse, mini donkey, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, peacocks, pheasant, rabbit, fish, dogs and cats too!
Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – For how long have you been an author? Is this your full time job? What else have you written and what are your plans for more books?
Adventures of the Frolic Riders Author Annette M Johnston – This is my first novel, and it was just published last summer, 2012. I am a Certified Financial Planner Practitioner for my day job. I plan to write at least one sequel.
Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – What age group would you recommend for Adventures of the Frolic Riders, and what is the message you are hoping to reach to them?
Adventures of the Frolic Riders Author Annette M Johnston – This heartwarming book appeals to horse lovers of all ages, but is geared to children ages 8-14. Woven into the storyline is a very important concept related to money management for children, called the Give,Grow,Get Program. A fun learning activity is included at the end of the book that describes the program details and shows the child how to make his/her own Give Grow Get jars. This program can lay the foundation for financial success as an adult. I encourage parents to read the book too, and use the Discussion Question page to talk with their child, and to start using the Give Grow Get Program.
Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – What inspired you to write about Adventures of the Frolic Riders? Do you have a love for horses as well?
Adventures of the Frolic Riders Author Annette M Johnston – As a child, I wanted to be a writer, but ended up in the financial industry instead. A few years ago, I saw a certain incident in my rural neighborhood and just knew it would make a great story for kids. I wrote about horses because that’s what I know, since I have “horsed around” my entire life.
