Adventures With Clifford The Big Red Dog Exhibit Review
There are many fun children’s activities at the Sloan Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog exhibit. Children can climb aboard the ferry to the sound of seagulls and play with a map of Bridwell Island. There is a nine-foot tall Clifford with a slide for a tail. Children can also enjoy using a conveyor belt to fill Clifford’s big dog bowl with some extremely large dog bones, and have fun playing dress up on stage with Clifford and his pals on the movie screen behind them. T-Bone beach has faux sand shapes that the kids can match up to build a sand castle.
The Musical Marina offers some toy instruments to enjoy playing music. Younger children can also crawl through a tunnel in Cleo’s Backyard display and have fun with shape-sorting and matching activities. There’s also an art station where visitors can view the Norman Bridwell Art Retrospective –51 years of artwork and stories by the creator and author of Clifford The Big Red Dog – and do some of their own art projects. You’ll see some original sketches and see how they went from line drawings to the actual full color books.
In Clifford’s dog house, children can create letters to mail to Clifford, Emily Elizabeth, and other Clifford characters… and put the letters in their mailboxes that are all around the exhibit with their names on it, or take them directly to the post office where they can also dress up like a postal worker and sort mail.
Throughout the exhibit, you will find “Clifford’s Big Ideas,” which are ten simple life lessons displayed at each of the stations, i.e. Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe In Yourself, Be A Good Friend, and Help Others.
