Arts Beats And Eats 2020

Arts Beats and Eats 2020 Preview – Arts, Beats, and Eats returns to Royal Oak MI this Labor Day Weekend for four days of fun beginning September 4, 2020 and running through Labor Day, September 7, 2020. I attended a press conference for the festival and heard about the exciting plans for this year Labor Day Weekend!

UPDATE 7/22/20 – “Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats, Oakland County’s Favorite Summer Festival Celebrating Art, Music, Cuisine & Community is officially canceled for 2020 due to health concerns and restrictions on large scale events by the State of Michigan.” per

While the festival has been canceled, virtual and small-scale live activation will take its place to spread a little bit of art, music, food and health, including a major effort to support the local music industry. The featured component of the 2020 event reincarnation will be “The Beats Go On…” which seeks to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local musicians, as well as spread the joy of music virtually and through limited capacity drive-in concerts Labor Day Weekend. Learn more at the links and below.

Labor Day Weekend will also deliver art, eats and some health-focused fun too, just in a different format. With cancellations of nearly all summer art fairs and shows, artists have been greatly impacted by the pandemic. Keeping the spirit of its past juried fine art shows alive in 2020, Arts, Beats & Eats has launched Art by Appointment. Patrons can preview top Michigan artists’ work online and then be scheduled for a 75 minute visit with up to 20 participating juried fine artists. Learn more here.

The Eats will also go on!  Working with neighborhood associations, The Eats On Your Street initiative will deliver top locally-owned food trucks into Royal Oak neighborhoods and nearby communities, such as Clawson, Berkley, Huntington Woods and Ferndale and others.  Plus, get your health on and participate in limited fitness events each weekend morning thanks to Priority Health. We’re putting together 100 person Outdoor Yoga and Zumba-Style events at a safe social distance, with a minimum of 12 feet between participants. Learn more here.
