Booth Park Birmingham
Booth Park’s features include an expansive playscape, a labyrinth and tunnel, turf hill/amphitheater, rain garden, stream banks, a trail connecting to the Rouge River Trail, and open green space. In the summertime, Booth Park holds free movie nights for families. In the winter, Booth Park Sled Hill is a big attraction, especially for younger children.
The playscape at Booth Park is worth mentioning. Built recently using private donations from residents and businesses, Booth Park resembles an interactive fort providing hours of entertainment. My kids used to go to Fort Fraser in Fraser until it was torn down. Booth Park’s playscape is an excellent alternative.
One of the biggest attractions the kids can enjoy is the astroturf hill that pairs up nicely with cardboard boxes to be used in the summer as a sled hill. The hills are pretty steep so they really get some speed going. All of the grounds are made with recycled rubber material which allows for a safe landing. They can also walk through the mazes of varying levels in the fort, pass through a tunnel, go down slides, climb walls, play in the sandbox, ride on the swings, ring the chimes and run around on the open green space. There is also an area for the younger kids that has smaller playscape features including an area that resembles a train.
