We first started going to Brutus Camp Deli in 2018 on our many vacations to Petoskey / Harbor Springs area and immediately fell in love with it. Back then it was a small operation. We notice 1 cook, 1 server, and 1 manager serving up great breakfast food. Then the owner of the original Camp Deli sold out just before Covid… I forget whether it was right when Covid happened or just before but regardless, the restaurant went away and was shuttered… for a VERY long time.
The owners of the local, VERY popular, Douglas Lake Bar & Steakhouse in Pellston purchased the restaurant. They have not only returned Brutus Camp Deli to it’s “former glory”, they’ve even improved it. The new owners and chef still offer incredible food (and incredible portions) at decent prices but they’ve updated the menu and even the experience with a cleaner restaurant, friendly servers (and hostess), and a more pleasant overall restaurant.
If you love great breakfast food and great prices, you’ll love this restaurant. It’s a small, rustic, restaurant that seats about 50+ (conservatively). Picnic tables dot the restaurant floor and you’re immersed in a charming northern Michigan lodge fishing/camping experience.
Don’t let the small space, affordable prices, and rustic experience fool you. Camp Deli has an extensive breakfast and brunch menu but don’t be fooled, the star of the show at BCD is the breakfast.

In addition to classic omeletes, scrambles, pancakes, French toast, and typical sides… Camp Deli also offers more exotic breakfasts like Bananas Foster pancakes, Monte Cristo, Belgian Waffles, breakfast Sandys (or is it Sandies?), and French toast swirls. Breakfast is served all-day at Camp Deli. Camp Deli serves Plath’s bacon – If you know, you know. If you don’t know, Plath’s Meats is legendary in Up North Michigan.
You would think that Brutus Camp Deli wouldn’t be the place for those watching what they eat, but they do offer VERY vegan-friendly options as well as dairy-free and gluten-free options.
