Kensington Metropark Maple’s Sweet Story

Kensington Metropark Maple’s Sweet Story – Take a guided walk through the farm’s Sugar Bush. Learn how

to pick the right maple tree, then watch how maple trees are tapped and sap is collected. Stop by the French and Native American camps to hear and see how these techniques have changed through the years. Then visit the Sugar Shack to see and smell the sap being boiled down into maple sugar. Real maple sugar products will be available for purchase. All ages. $3 per child / Adults $5. Pre-registration is required online or by calling 810-227-8910. A Metroparks daily or annual vehicle pass is required to enter any Metropark. Permits are on sale NOW. You can pick one up at metroparks.com OR visit your local Metropark today.

Foster Care Orientation meeting at the Ennis Center for Children are for anyone interested in learning more about how to become a licensed foster parent. The orientation is the first step towards becoming a licensed foster parent with Ennis Center for Children. Information is provided about the types of children in care, how they enter care, and the process/skills needed to become a licensed foster parent. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5p-7p at each local Ennis office. Virtual meetings are held via ZOOM every 3rd Tuesday of the month. For more info, www.enniscenter.org

South Lyon Memorial Day Parade

South Lyon Memorial Day Parade – Organized by VFW Post 2502. The parade launches at 9a from Bartlett Elementary and makes its way down 10 Mile through downtown. The parade ends in the South Lyon Cemetery with a ceremony that commemorates the contributions and sacrifices of all veterans. Organized by South Lyon VFW Post 1224.

Farmington Memorial Day Parade

Farmington Memorial Day Parade – at the Intersection of Grand River & Orchard Lake Road on Grand River Avenue, between Orchard Lake Road and downtown Farmington. The event ends with a ceremony at Memorial Park at Grand River Avenue & Oakland Street, followed by a free community luncheon hosted at the American Legion. The Parade Committee is looking for volunteers who would like to join the team and help organize and manage the event. Farmington Summer Concerts

Farmington Summer Concerts at Riley Park – Riley Park in Farmington, Michigan will host free summer concerts on Friday nights at the Walter E Sundquist Pavilion as part of the Rhythmz in Riley Park concert series.

Also usually featured at Riley Park will be the Lunch Beats noon-time summer concert series every Wednesday this summer.

Concerts run every Friday from 7p-9p and feature pop music, folk, country, rock-a-billy and more. Chairs and blankets are recommended.
