Heritage Park Events – The Great Farmington Hills Campout
Heritage Park (24725 Farmington Road, Farmington Hills, MI, 248-536-5617)
At this event, families can enjoy Nature Center tours, trail hikes, and free time with the family from 4p-9p on Saturday. Participants can then choose to either camp out afterwards in their own backyards or stay in a pre-reserved campsite for an overnight adventure in Heritage Park. The deadline for reservations is June 1. The HAWK Events – Kickoff 2 Summer

All ages FREE event for the family. An open house with games, tours, giveaways, crafts, and performances. Enjoy fun and games on the outdoor fields, plus activities inside the Gym, Aquatics Center, Theater, Black Box, and Art Studios. Hot dogs, and refreshments can be purchased at the event. Enjoy the evening air as you head into Heritage Park after dark at a Full Moon Friday Night Hike. Listen for nocturnal animals, observe the night sky, and heighten your senses along the way. Cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration required. Hike will be cancelled in case of inclement weather. Hosted by the Farmington Hills Special Services (Parks & Rec) Department. Heritage Park Events – Farmington Hills Solstice Celebration

Celebrate the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice. Take a hayride through the park, enjoy roasting marshmallows around a campfire, explore the Nature Center, create a garden fairy door and art projects, and find out what makes this day so special with games and outdoor activities. A great way to celebrate the first day of summer with family and friends. Registration INCLUDES a hayride that leaves at the time selected during registration. Event activities will be available from 6:30-8:30p. There is an option to register for the event WITHOUT a hayride at a discounted price. S’more kits can be purchased for an additional $1. Heritage Park Events – Storytime by the Splash Pad
Heritage Park Splash Pad (24725 Farmington Road, Farmington Hills, MI, 248-536-5617)
The event is for children ages three to six accompanied by an adult. Participants will meet on the new Discovery Trail near the Splash Pad for stories, rhymes, and movement. Then everyone is welcome to stay and play with outdoor toys, explore the Discovery Trail or head to the Splash Pad for some fun in the water. This is a FREE event. MORE INFO

Farmington Hills Events – Kid’s Fishing Day
Founders Sports Park (35500 8 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48335)
Equipment and bait provided. Families can choose which time they would like to arrive for curbside pick-up of their fishing supplies in the Founder’s Park Ice Arena parking lot (east entrance) on Jul 30. Families can then head out to any local fishing spot (a list of suggestions will be provided) OR join our volunteers at the Founder’s Park Fishing Pier (west entrance for in-person fishing practice after you’ve picked up your equipment. Supplies and practice are available to pre-registered children only. Ages 4-16. $20. Hosted by the Farmington Hills Special Services (Parks & Rec) Department. Pre-registration required. To register.

Hot dogs and s’mores are available for purchase at the campfire (or you can cook and enjoy your own), then  you watch over 1,000 marshmallows fall from the sky. The HAWK Events – Kids Night at the Hawk
The HAWK FH Community Center (29995 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334, fhgov.com)
Parents can plan a special night-out while kids get to enjoy a night-in at the Hawk Community Center. Hawk Recreation Staff will plan and oversee activities for a fun-filled night. You do not need to be a passholder to participate. Emergency form must be filled out at check-in. Participants will have supervised access to the pool and should bring a swimsuit if they wish to participate in pool activities. AGES 5-11. Resident/Non-Resident $25/$30. Pre-registration required.
