Wint Nature Center Spring Star Party – at Wint Nature Center 248-625-6473. Join the Oakland Astronomy Club for a safe, fun, family-friendly night under the stars. Telescope eyepiece sharing is not possible, so instead we’ll share close-up views of the moon using club members’ telescopes, video cameras, and screen monitors. See some great views and learn fun facts about the night sky. Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on. Suitable for all ages. No on-site registration available. Meet at Moraine Knoll. $4/person. Wint Nature Center Happy Birthday Lorax – Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Enjoy a reading of the story before taking a stroll to observe the world around us. Wint Nature Center Sap to Syrup – A short hike to learn about the history and learn how some sugaring tools are used. Then, sample different grades of maple syrup. Some sweet maple treats and take-home maple-based recipes are also on the menu. Some tasty treats may be made in factories that process nut products. This program is suitable for all ages. Lavender Lane Farms Lavender Harvest Festival – Admission is $15. Children 12 & under are FREE. Stroll through 10,000+ lavender plants in peak bloom. Enjoy fresh U-PICK lavender, fresh and dried lavender bundles, live music, drinks, food truck rally, petting farm, pony rides, photo ops (cell phone only), 75+ local artisans, and more. Wint Nature Center Puddle Jumper Series – at Wint Nature Center at Independence Oaks County Park 248-625-6473. Children ages 3-6 can enjoy nature fun as they increase their love for the great outdoors. A naturalist will engage children with a story, nature talk and related activity. Spencer Park Bass Tournament – The Park Bass Tournament is open to ALL AGES and SKILL LEVELS. All fishing is done from shore and there will be prizes for the most bass caught and also for the largest bass. Tournament participation is $5. Participants receive free park vehicle entry.
