Oakland County Moms Calendar of Metro Detroit Summer Events
Puppy Yoga Class – Yoga6 is partnering with Leader Dogs for the Blind and hosting a Flow For A Cause Puppy Yoga Class outdoors. This $30 suggested, donation-based class will support the training of dogs and programs to assist blind and visually impaired individuals. Guests will enjoy a 60-minute class with puppy playtime to follow. Guests are encouraged to register in advance by calling 248-453-5255. Hosted by Leader Dogs for the Blind & Hosted by TheVofRH.
Barkin’ In The Park at Gilbert Willis P (248-624-2850). Hosted by Wixom Parks & Rec. Food, dog walking trail fun pet vendors, K9 show, talent show, and more. A pet photographer will be on hand All pets must be on a leash. This is a FREE event to attend.
Birmingham Art Walk – Downtown Birmingham. This free strolling event will feature local artists and shops, entertainment and more throughout downtown Birmingham. Stop by participating merchants to meet local artists and enjoy special promotions, light refreshments and other festivities. Attendees are invited to start at the participating business of their choice to receive an event list and then stroll to visit as many participating businesses and artists as desired, throughout the evening. Birmingham Fire Department Open House – at Adams Fire Station. The hands-on event offers attendees an opportunity to operate a fire hose and learn about fire safety. Portable fire extinguisher and DTE Arcs and Sparks demonstrations also will take place during the open house. View an EMS and vehicle extrication display, along with HAZMAT apparatus and equipment. The Beaumont One helicopter will also be at the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and view the inside of the helicopter. Wag-O-Ween – Get your pup dressed up and ready for Halloween at the dog costume contest! Three weight category contests where winners will be chosen in each weight category. Limited to the first 40 dogs registered in each weight category. Enjoy the complimentary photo booth. Hosted by The Mall at Partridge Creek.

Light Up Beacon Park is family fun at Beacon Park in Detroit. Children of all ages are invited to experience “Toyland” at Beacon Park with larger-than-life light features, including a Choo-Choo Train, Giant Teddy Bear and other photo moments. These new and returning interactive lighting features, totaling more than 125,000 twinkling LED lights will illuminate Beacon Park. Opening Night 11/18 from 5p-11:30p features dancers, live entertainment, live reindeer, Santa, and more. Hosted by the Downton Detroit Partnership.
