Ciccarelli’s Auburn Hills Review – Pics – Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater is located across the street from The Palace of Auburn Hills in the old Post Bar location. Ciccarelli’s is now CLOSED for business. The announcement came after the Palace of Auburn Hills announcement of impending closure.
Former Red Wing Dino Ciccarelli has opened his own sports bar/restaurant in three locations – Shelby Township, Downtown Detroit, and his latest location in Auburn Hills – directly across the street from The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater Auburn Hills is a little more than a typical sports bar. My husband had recently visited the Shelby Township location and enjoyed it, so we ventured out to the Auburn Hills location to do a review.
Ciccarelli’s Auburn Hills offers a true sports bar experience. Built in the former The Post space, the inside was completely renovated to reflect Ciccarelli’s vision. A large rectangular bar runs the entire length of the restaurant, and about 20+ flat screen TV’s airing sports broadcasts are lined up on all sides. There are two super large screen theater screens – one at each far end – that look to be about 10 feet tall by 17 feet wide. There is definitely no shortage of bar seating or flat screens at Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater.
The bar across the street from The Palace of Auburn Hills has gone through swift changes through the years. The Post, The Venue, Muskies (the list goes on)… it seemed like no one could succeed long-term at that location unless the Pistons were on a hot streak.
Ciccarelli has made some MAJOR changes to the building and the new Ciccarelli’s is nothing like the old Post Bar. The bar/restaurant has been gutted and completely redone. It looks fantastic. Dark woods, a huge bar, prime seating upstairs and an atmosphere that rivals the old Spectadium Sports Bar in Troy (I miss Spectadium).
The staff at Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater was very courteous. The atmosphere and people make the dining experience very comfortable and cozy. The Auburn Hills location gets quite busy during the lunch hour and on Pistons game days. There is additional seating upstairs that opens up when the lower level fills up.
Ciccarelli’s Auburn Hills menu is a simple two-sided menu with just the favorites – e.g. wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers such as steak bites, nachos, sliders and dips… Typical bar food, but it’s done very well. The menu ricing is average. You can find burgers for around $9 and they are made with 8oz. USDA Angus prime burger. Their other great focuses are on the pizza and wings. You can opt for a build your own pizza, or choose one of their unique recipes from the menu. I enjoyed a burger and my husband was happy with his pizza (see pics).

Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater features 16 oz. draft beers with about half of them being the craft variety (Michigan features as well). They also have over 25 bottled beers that vary for the casual beer drinker as well as the more sophisticated craft follower. Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater also offers a wine list… I opted simply for the house Merlot which was nice.
Overall, my husband prefers the Shelby Township location, as they are not built identically. Also, it seems that the Shelby Township Ciccarelli’s Sports Bar Theater is the one with a greater focus on events and specials. See below for their weekly specials…
Despite the whole sports bar vibe, the atmosphere is at Ciccarelli’s Auburn Hills is pretty darn family-friendly. Because of its location, Ciccarelli’s is packed to the rafters during Palace events but is slow during non-event days due to the area not being very residential. So, if you go during a football Sunday and the Pistons aren’t playing that day, you’ll find Ciccarelli’s to be very laid back.
