Cranbrook After Dark Review of Cranbrook Local After Dark from 2016
The CIS After Dark event is a night of science and fun for adults 21 and over. Guests stroll through the entire museum visiting all of the exhibits, demos and activities. A cash bar is available, along with various food vendors making this a unique experience – visiting the museum without the kids in tow, and having a blast with your date or with a girls night out!
The Cranbrook Institute of Science museum was also filled with Michigan vendors as we strolled through the exhibits. I brought an old friend from high school for a fun girls night out as we met local vendors, makers, and craftspeople who displayed their Michigan-made goods. We did some holiday shopping, and of course bought a few things for ourselves as well. There were vendors specializing in handmade jewelry, allergy friendly flavored popcorn (of all kinds!), Detroit clothing, locally made jams, a leather craftsman that offered leather rings, bracelets, chess boards, and so much more! They even offer a secure “bag check” so you can drop off all your purchases for safe keeping rather than carrying them around all night.
Additionally, Cranbrook Local After Dark activities are held periodically through the night – museum scavenger hunt, the traveling exhibit in the lower level, planetarium show, observatory visits, and speakers.
The Cranbrook Institute of Science Local After Dark event is something that I will look forward to every year. It’s a beautiful museum, and partnered up with the talented vendors and fun food and drinks, it makes for a great girls night out.
