There are 28 steps to get to the top of the stairs where you will reach the base of the cross. These 28 steps commemorate the 28 stairs Jesus climbed to reach the throne of Pontius Pilate and be condemned to death. Visitors are welcome to climb the Holy Stairs on their knees, praying and meditating on the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Cross in the Woods Outdoor Mass Times for 2024
Outdoor services are scheduled to take place on Saturdays at 6p and Sundays at 10:30a from Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend for 2024. All outdoor masses are weather permitting and they won’t hesitate to move mass indoors if conditions aren’t perfect.
There are also meditation stations around the grounds, and mass services are held year round with indoor and outdoor shrines. The grounds are beautifully maintained and add to the experience.
