CVS Minute Clinic Metro Detroit Review – Review of CVS Minute Clinic, a service provided by Metro Detroit CVS locations for minor injuries and simple diagnosis’.

It was Saturday afternoon and the doctor’s office was closed. My son was complaining his eyes were bothering him. When I looked closely, I could see that he was starting to come down with pink eye. I did not want to invest the time and money in going to urgent care. I called there ahead of time and there was an hour wait.

So, I decided to check out the CVS Minute Clinic. I was ok with going somewhere new, because in all honesty, pink eye should be an easy diagnosis. When we got there, there was a computer station (in leiu of a receptionist) where you could log in all of your information, and sign up to be on the wait list for a CVS Minute Clinic appointment. (My son loved this part and even tried to find something wrong with his sister so he could sign her up for a CVS Minute Clinic appointment as well!:) We were next in line for a CVS Minute Clinic appointment so the wait was within 15 minutes. What I loved about this was that we were not surrounded by several people with various illnesses (I’m always afraid we’ll come home with more than we went there for), just mostly other shoppers.

Once in the CVS Minute Clinic, we were seen by a nurse practitioner. She was very nice. And don’t think that because you will be seen by a nurse, it won’t be as thorough. She went through a complete check list. My son had to stand on a scale and get his blood pressure taken, and all he has was pink eye.

Finally, and very important, the CVS Minute Clinic works with your insurance and has the same co-pay plans as what you would get at a doctor’s office visit. Some insurance companies charge extra if you go to an urgent care or ER. It was nice to know that at the CVS Minute Clinic, is the same.
