Gabriel Farms & Winery Petoskey review, hours, info, and pics. Located just East of Downtown Petoskey on Mitchell Road, Gabriel Farms has opened their winery in June 2020 and is proving to be a popular destination with locals and the area’s thriving winery tour visitors.
Gabriel Farms & Winery Petoskey Pics
Gabriel Farms offers outdoor seating with beautiful views. There is a firepit area, a lower patio, and a higher level patio that you access on the side after climbing some stone steps. There is also indoor seating inside the winery. The indoor area offers bar seating along with some tables to fit about 40 people.
Wines offered include red wines, white wines, and hard ciders to taste. They also offer some snacks like free popcorn or some hummus or spinach avocado dip if you’re looking for something more substantial.
My friend and I each ordered a flight for our tasting. It included two whites, a rose, and a hard cider. All were fantastic. We enjoyed some popcorn and some hummus with pitas as well.
Gabriel Farms & Winery takes a very relaxed approach to the tastings. There is no formal explanation of how they made their wines, the stories behind them, etc. They just provide you with a small sheet to check off your orders and then they bring them out to you once it’s all set.
The customer approaches vary greatly from Up North Michigan winery to Up North Michigan winery. Some go on and on about the process in an effort to entertain and educate you about your wine choices. Some just present the wine and let you make up your mind. Different preferences for different people. Gabriel definitely takes the low-key approach.
The winery was pretty crowded when we went on multiple occasions so it’s an obvious hit in town. They were also sold out of some of the selections that we were interested in. But, it’s good to see it doing so well, especially for only having opened in June of 2020.
Aside from the nice views and cozy ambiance, the farm (and winery) also has the sweetest dogs that roam the grounds and visit all the customers. We definitely made a few new furry friends that evening!
