Glow Crazy Distance Doodler Review – review of the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler toy for kids which allows them draw in the dark on a specialized pad.
Glow Crazy one of those “As Seen on TV” products. It is a cool concept and is quite an invention. Basically, the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler comes with two large glow clings that are about 2 feet wide by 1 foot tall. You can keep them big, or cut them into smaller pieces or shapes. They “cling” to the wall (and so far haven’t pulled off any paint). Once it’s dark in the room, you can use the light pen to draw onto the clings. You can draw up close or stand up to 10 feet away. It is easier to draw with more detail and accuracy when standing up close.
Glow Crazy Distance Doodler also comes with stencils. Hold them up to the glow cling and “color” it in with the light pen. It really works. Even if you colored sloppily outside of the stencils, your image will be there when you remove the stencil.
Within minutes, the Glow Crazy will erase itself and you can continue to draw. There is an erase feature on the light pen, but it’s not necessary as the light erases quickly. Almost too quickly.
My kids enjoy this toy. They love how the Glow Crazy makes for great night time play and that they can use it in the dark. They love playing in the dark, goofing off, and coming up with drawings. I love it because there’s no mess and my help is not needed at all for them to use it. It kind of reminds me of a light version of the Aqua Doodle pen which uses water.
The Glow Crazy light pen requires four AAA batteries which I think is a lot for a small pen. If it lasts a while that will be great, but my guess is that the brightness of the drawings will suffer once the batteries begin to even slightly wear off.
You honestly won’t get the most accurate and skilled output with the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler, and your creations will erase faster than you’d think, but it doesn’t lessen the fun. It only makes you want to draw more. Glow Crazy Distance Doodler is great for glow in the dark target practice, glow in the dark hangman or any other fun drawing game your kids can think of.
