Indian Springs Metropark Spray n Play Review / Pics
Opening Day 2024 – The Indian Springs Splash Pad opens on May 25, 2024 from 11a-7p then daily through Labor Day Weekend
Spray n Play and Adventure Playground are designed for kids ages 2-12 and in close and easy proximity to parking at Meadowlark picnic area. The Indian Springs splash pad has water cannons, dumping buckets, a hillside slide and sprayers. The spraypark / splash pad is zero entry and very safe. Spray n Play splashpad / spray park was renovated in 2017.
Adventure Playground features a climbing zone with large horizontal climbing wall, huge cargo net, and vertical cable climbing tower. Adventure Maze, part of Adventure Playground, is like a corn maze but with fence material so it is transparent. The maze is fun but not too challenging for children to solve The maze even features a 2nd story bridge over it so you can see the progress of maze-goers below.
BEST PLAYGROUNDS & PLAYPLACES IN OAKLAND COUNTY
There are several shaded, brightly colored pavilions, picnic areas, and picnic tables throughout the Spray n Play & Adventure Playground. There is even a tot lot portion of Adventure Playground for the (very) little ones.
Near the large picnic pavilions at Spray n Play, there is a convenient, scenic path that leads you under the main park rd and to the Indian Springs Nature Center (Environmental Education Center / EDC). The path connecting the EDC, spray park, and Adventure Playground is quite handy and gives you a lot to explore without having to walk too far or be too far away from your vehicle. The path system is brilliantly designed.
The downside of the splash pad / Adventure Playground design is the lack of barriers. The entire space is very wide-open so you to keep a sharp eye out for your children because it’s so easy to wander. It can be difficult to keep track of children traversing back and forth between the splash pad and the playground. I don’t mean this to be a gripe, both the splash pad and the playground are fantastic features… just a headsup.
Another fun place to visit when you’re at Indian Springs for the splash pad is the awesome Nature Center. Just a short walk from the Adventure Playground and Splash Pad, the Indian Springs Environmental Discovery Center is the crown jewel of Metropark Nature Centers.
The Environmental Discovery Center hosts homeschool programs, scout programs, school trips, and more. You can even rent the rooms in the EDC for events and birthday parties.
Both the spraypark / splash pad and Adventure Playground are FREE. A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required for access to both. Vehicle permits are on sale NOW. You can pick one up at metroparks.com OR visit your local Metropark.
