Johnny Black’s Public House Rochester Hills review, hours, menu info. Johnny Black’s is located off Auburn Rd east of Dequindre in Rochester Hills. We’ve seen this location change from restaurant to bar to restaurant, etc. It’s seemingly a new bar or restaurant every 2 years. My husband and I used to joke about every new opening… “wonder how long THIS place will last?”. So far, Johnny Black’s has been there 4 years plus and not only running, but seemingly thriving.
Johnny Black’s Public House Rochester Hills Review
The current owner did a nice job of cleaning this place up and turning it into an attractive hang out. I visited the Public House with my husband for a late dinner and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of brown brick and dark, rich woods. A full bar takes up a wall-side and flat screen TV’s surround the outer edges. Booth seating also lines the perimeter and there is high table pub style seating in the center. Additionally, there is some high table seating at the “garage” door that is open during the warm weather allowing for an indoor/outdoor patio feel. It’s a fun place. Nice mixture of great 20-somethings through 50-somethings.
The acoustics at Johnny Black’s Rochester Hills are a bit rough. My husband and I enjoy a night out where we can sit and chat for hours. Unfortunately, this place fills up and gets loud. We can barely hear ourselves talk.
Johnny Black’s is a very large restaurant with a ton of seating, so we haven’t had to wait, yet. However, parking is definitely more challenging as there really isn’t a decent sized lot to match up to the number of guests dining there.
Johnny Black’s Public House Rochester Hills Menu is bar food glorified – quality, fresh, and good quantity. We had the wings and you get your choice of sauce. There were several to choose from. We’ve tried entrees such as the blackened burger filled and topped with blue cheese, the Juicy Lucy – a Minneapolis creation of an American cheese stuffed burger, and the lobster tails.
There were many other options on the Johnny Black’s Rochester Hills menu including shrimp, fish and chips, fish tacos, steak, ribs, salads, soups and chili, sliders (Irish sliders, Filet Mignon sliders, Buffalo Chicken sliders..), plenty of burgers, nachos, burritos, sandwiches, and more. I believe the menu differs slightly between the two locations (Rochester Hills and Sterling Heights), and you can see this on their website.
The Johnny Black’s Public House Rochester Hills management is top notch with customer service. They messed up our order (innocent mistake) so the manager came by to personally apologize and offer free drinks
Overall, Johnny Blacks Public House Rochester Hills is a casual restaurant that is great for any occasion. Though not a family restaurant per se, Johnny Black’s Rochester Hills is a fun place to meet up with friends, have a date night, or take the kids out to eat.
