Why You Should Buy a Metroparks Annual Pass

It’s November which means it’s time for the annual traditions; Thanksgiving, football season, holiday shopping and of course, the Metroparks Annual Pass sale. Each year in November the Huron-Clinton Metroparks start selling their annual passes for the next year and at a discounted price for their residents up until the New Year! We went through and “crunched” some numbers to help explain why you should buy an annual pass for your family.

Metroparks Facts & Trivia

3 – The number of Metroparks that are located in or on the border of Oakland County. Kensington Metropark in Milford, Indian Springs Metropark in White Lake and Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township are only a short drive away.
10 – How many Metroparks interpretive centers your children can visit to learn or see something new. The Metroparks interpretive centers, led by their award-winning Interpretive Services department, reaches thousands of families each year through summer camps, homeschool, educational and holiday programs. Each center features interactive and engaging displays and live animals. Learn more at www.metroparks.com/education
13 – The total number of Metroparks in the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system. All 13 Metroparks include Delhi, Dexter-Huron, Hudson Mills, Huron Meadows, Indian Springs, Kensington, Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair, Lower Huron, Oakwoods, Stony Creek, Willow and Wolcott Mill Metroparks. The Metroparks are spread across Southeast Michigan in Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. While not all are right in our backyard, most are less than an hour’s drive away making them perfect spots for a day trip with your family.
$35 – The discounted cost for Metroparks 5-county residents if you buy before January 1, 2025. That’s less than a family dinner out or a trip to the movies or a gym membership or a week’s worth of coffee purchases. That’s a lot of value for a small price!
400 – The number of miles of trails throughout the Metroparks that are open for exploration. The Metroparks feature paved hike-bike trails (which are maintained and plowed in the winter!) as well as rustic hiking trails and nature trails.
365 – How many days a year the Metroparks are open. An annual pass will grant you access to any and all Huron-Clinton Metroparks every day of the year plus if you buy the pass in November or December, you get more than 365 days of access because your pass is good to use immediately.
1,000+ – On average the number of events and programs that the Metroparks host each year. At the Metroparks, you’ll never run out of things to do. You’ll find events and programs like art classes, guided hikes, fireworks, pet-friendly events, concerts, homeschool programs, and more! Explore all there is to see and do at www.metroparks.com/more-to-see-more-to-do/
25,000 – The total acres across Southeast Michigan that the Metroparks encompass. Within those nearly 25,000 acres are opportunities for your family to enjoy year-round access to the best trails, beaches, pools, boat launches, nature centers and so much more. Why You Should Buy a Metroparks Annual Pass – An OCM Story

I’m not going to give away my age but I’ve been a loyal supporter of the Metroparks for decades – I even (proudly) was employed there (Stony Creek Metropark) in my younger years. An Metroparks Annual Pass is a fitness club membership, a ticket to fireworks, summer concert tickets, FREE summer movies, a chance to explore, FREE splash pads, FREE homeschool education opportunities, sled hills, and an open invitation to enjoy all of Michigan’s seasons. PLUS this pass grants you access to all the fun seasonal events, golf, and more. This pass gives you access to your favorite Metropark PLUS 12 others you may not have had the privledge of visiting (yet). – Glen Co-Founder of Oakland County Moms
