Pics, photos and video of Michigan Pinball Expo at Oakland University inside the Oakland Center.

Michigan Pinball Expo has been held anually at Oakland University since 2010 and is truly a family-fun event. The 4-day Michigan Pinball Expo features more than 100 vintage and new pinball machines all set to “free play” for a one-time admission fee. Many pinball machine enthusiests throughout the country flock to the event.

Michigan Pinball Expo showcases the latest and greatest pinball creations and expo-goers are invited to try out the innovative new machines in addition to playing vintage pinball machines that date back to the 1960s and beyond.

It’s truly amazing to see how far the technology has come. In some ways, Michigan Pinball Expo is like a time machine and it’s interesting to see how pop culture has played a role through the years. You’ll see carnival-like pinball machines from the pre-1960s, 70s-style swanky pinball machines with sci-fi themes, sexed-up swanky machines from the late 70s and early 80s, the dawn of digital machines featuring popular movie themes of the 90s and beyond – all in one place… The post 2000 machines feature full sound-tracks from band-themed pinball machines like AC/DC, Metallica and Aerosmith.

Kids love Michigan Pinball Expo too. In a world of high-tech video games, they’re truly amazed by even the concept that pinball machines were such a huge part of Americana. Michigan Pinball Expo even has special pinball contests for children featuring trophies and prizes. There are even stools available for the younger kids to carry around so they can hop from machine to machine and play all of their favorites.
