Montessori School Rochester Summer Camps

The Montessori School Rochester Summer Camps 2021 – The Montessori School Rochester offers outdoor-focused, STEAAM Camp running June 21 through August 20, 2021 for children 2 months to 14 years old. Their STEAAM camp takes place mostly outdoors on their wooded 9-acre campus with weekly themes that go beyond the typical STEM camp – Science, Technology, Engineering applied through Art, Adventure and Montessori experience-based learning methods. 2021 Registration

Campers can register on a week-by-week basis, with half-day (9a–12p), full-day (9a–3p) and extended-day (8a–5p) options. Children are split into groups for age-appropriate learning. Costs vary from $220 to $330/week depending on group and options chosen. Register HERE.

The Montessori School Rochester Summer Camps 2021

9 weeks of STEAAM outdoors: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Adventure and Montessori

Week 1 (6/21 – 6/25) Nature Explorers
Campers will enjoy outdoor adventures foraging and collecting bugs to examine. They will embark on a journey of discovery in entomology and learn insects contribute to our human world.

Week 2 (6/28 – 7/2) Photography
Budding photographers will explore the parts of a camera and take still photos in the school gardens. They will  apply a range of editing and mixed media techniques to create unique artwork from their photographs.

Week 3 (7/6 – 7/9) Warrior Art
Children will use mud, water, leaves, soil, flowers, seeds and grass to make outdoor art. Older warriors will learn to use natural elements to leave secret codes for their teammates to follow on missions through the woods.

Week 4 (7/12 – 7/16) Rock & Dance 
During a week dedicated to music and dance, young musicians will design and construct their own instrument to play, as well as a collaborative musical wall. Older kids will be invited take their instrument of choice to play on an outdoor stage.

Week 5 (7/19 – 7/23) Woodworking
Kids will learn basic skills in working with wood, how to use tools safely and responsibly and create projects to take home.

Week 6 (7/26 – 7/30) Knitting & Sewing
Young crafters will learn knitting and crotchet, sewing and embroidery to design and make their own special pieces. Possibilities include scarves, hats, bags, toys or even costumes. 

Week 7 (8/2 – 8/6) Time Travel
Children will explore and experience the day-to-day of the past, asking: What was life like before electricity, the telephone, the internet? From there they will jump to 3021 and explore: What could life be like in the future? 

Week 8 (8/9 – 8/13) Adventure Codes
This camp takes the coding out of the app and into the playground. Older children will practice programming skills in blindfolded call and response outdoor games while younger will learn programming logic through thoughtfully designed materials and play. 

Week 9 (8/16 – 8/20) 3D Printing & Water Wonder
Young makers will discover the fundamentals of 3D printing and additive manufacturing to design and print their own creationsMeanwhile little scientists will explore water – design water experiments and water challenges, play creative water games and make water art.
