With Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order to close all public, private, and boarding schools across the state for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, districts are still required to implement a remote learning plan for K-12 students. Under the order, all high school seniors will graduate and students will advance to the next grade in the fall if they were currently on course to do so. How will this work for struggling learners? Michigan teachers are excellent at providing a quality education to their students in the classroom, however, as each student has his/her own unique learning style and individual educational needs, certain students may benefit and be more successful from additional help and tutoring. During these challenging times, any additional support such as individualized tutoring can help guide students through the maze of technology and distance learning to better prepare them for the educational challenges they may face as Michigan students begin the 2020-2021 school year in the fall. One Oakland County School teacher, Michelle Smith, would like to give back by helping Oakland County Front Line Workers and their children.
