The giant gingerbread house is adorned with Christmas colors and decorations, and features fine details that celebrate the holiday season…such as a red cocoa butter roof, white fondant frosted windows, newly added lighthouse, “mitten” tree decorated with mitten-shaped ornaments, Snoopy “resting” on the rooftop, and a toy room inside.

This year’s new lighthouse design was inspired by the Point Betsie Lighthouse located south of Traverse City, MI.

Royal Park Hotel Gingerbread Lighthouse 2015 Ingredients

  • 220 cups of sugar
  • 300 pounds of gingerbread mix
  • 110 cups of powdered sugar
  • 90 gallons of water
  • 240 eggs
  • 300 pounds of holiday candy
  • 400 candy canes
  • 10 gallons of fondant

The “mitten” tree serves a purpose to help promote a new fund raiser for the Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. Visitors will have the opportunity to sponsor a pair of adult or children’s mittens for a minimum donation of $10. Additionally, the newly opened PARK 600 bar + kitchen will be donating proceeds from each dessert purchased to the 2015 Red Kettle Campaign.
