Sazón Latin Cuisine Petoskey

Sazón Latin Cuisine Petoskey review, pics, hours, and menu info. Sazón Latin Cuisine is the newest Mexican / Puerto Rican restaurant in the Harbor Springs Petoskey area. Sazón actually took the place of another Mexican restaurant, Mi Lindo Cancun, that went out of business in the same location. Fingers crossed that Sazón doesn’t suffer the same fate…because it is very tasty (and there’s a lack of downstate quality Mexican restaurants “Up North”.

I visited Sazón with a friend. We are both big fans of Mexican food, and quite picky. We were very happy with Sazón and will definitely be back.

The interior at Sazón is very basic. There are a few booths and tables for dining in, but there is also an easy option to order at the counter for takeout. We dined in. Everything seemed very clean. And, each table had Cholula…one of my favorite hot sauces.

Sazón is not exactly typical, for example, there were no free chips and salsa when dining in. You have to order it as an appetizer if you want them. I did. The salsa honestly did not blow me away, but I prefer a fresh salsa.

The menu at Sazón includes both Mexican and Puerto Rican entrees. There were Mexican dishes such as quesadillas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas. Sazón also offers salads and appetizers like queso, nachos, plantains, and shrimp pastelillos. There were also House Specialities on the menu – Mofongo, Churrasco, Carne Asada, etc. Sazón offers a Kids menu. It has American style dishes like cheese dog and chicken tenders, but also has quesadillas.

My friend and I each had a burrito. There are a few different options. All are very interesting and I had a hard time choosing. I ended up going with the Caliente burrito and she had the Casa burrito. We both loved our dishes.

If you like desserts and drinks, you can enjoy Mexican desserts like Flan de Queso, fried ice cream, and Flancocho at Sazón. You can savor these with a frappe or coffee. Or if you like something a little stronger, Sazón offers Puerto Rican alcoholic beverages called Coquitos and also a Pina Colada. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, they don’t yet have the alcohol versions.

One other point worth mentioning so you can come prepared, Sazón Latin Cuisine Petoskey prefers cash payments, and they try to keep their menu items priced fairly. So, they do add a 3% charge onto credit card payments.

One final point is that the beans are different at Sazón…not the typical refried beans you get at a Mexican restaurant. The consistency reminds me of baked beans. I can’t comment on the taste since I was so full I couldn’t even try them.

Sazón has Lunch specials from 11a-3p.
