Sloan Museum Curious George Exhibit Review – Pics

Sloan Museum Curious George Exhibit Review – Pics – Curious George is the theme for the current travel exhibit at the Sloan Museum in Flint. I visited the Curious George exhibit with my kids while at the Sloan Museum recently.

The Curious George exhibit runs from September 20, 2014 through January 4, 2015. After that, the Sloan Museum will be setting up its next exhibit. The travel exhibits operate year-round and change periodically to new, fun-filled themes.

Upon entering the Curious George exhibit, my first thought was that the direct purpose of the travel exhibit is to be hands-on fun for the kids. The Curious George exhibit offers hands-on activities that focus on science, math, and engineering. The kids are engaged and performing these activities while taking in these concepts, and learning through direct experience and problem solving.

The current Curious George exhibit includes a rocket kids can climb into and have their photo taken. The interactive screen then allows you to input an email address so the photo keepsake can be emailed to you. We also enjoyed the windsock and pinwheel station that gave detailed instructions so kids could single handedly create their own windsock or pinwheel paper craft, and then test them in the provided fans. My son’s favorite display had to be the crank style chain track that carried and transported large blocks. He rotated a wheel that operated the mechanism and carried the large blocks and sent them onto a rolling track. There was also a cute building block area, mini playscape, and dinosaur table for the younger ones. There were even more areas at the Curious George display, allowing for plenty of fun play time.

I appreciated that the Sloan Museum Curious George exhibit has signage posted at the travel exhibit reminding families and children to clean up after you play so that the experience can be good for all visitors. I also appreciated that guests adhered to these rules. When we were at each station, things were picked up and straightened so we didn’t have to clean up or organize before getting to have fun. It wouldn’t have been as fun if we came into each activity where someone else left off.

Curious George also makes visits and takes pictures with families. It’s only on occasion, so call the museum directly or visit the website for their schedule.
