Spicy Bob’s Petoskey CLOSED

Spicy Bob’s Petoskey – review, hours, and menu info for Spicy Bob’s Italian Express restaurant on US 31 North just outside of Downtown Petoskey. There is also another Spicy Bob’s location in Gaylord. I noticed that Spicy Bob’s recently closed their Petoskey location. I tried to access the website and was met with a 404 error response meaning the Gaylord location is likely closed as well.

Spicy Bob’s Petoskey Review

Spicy Bob’s is a small Italian eatery that serves up pizza, grinders, salads, and wings (boneless and bone-in) in addition to Italian favorites like calzones, and spaghetti. Spicy Bob’s is geared mostly towards takeout / carryout orders. There are a few booths, and some cafe-style seating outside, but a majority of business is take out.

You won’t find a ton of variety at Spicy Bob’s Petoskey – they boast a couple of spaghetti options, 6 different calzones, 12 grinders, and 3 salads. I’m not complaining about the options, but the menu is dwarfed by Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders just down the road. Variety aside, I’ve always enjoyed the food at Spicy Bob’s. The food is made fast and fresh, and the zesty sauce makes just about every menu item taste great. Portions are fairly generous for the price.

Let’s get to the pizza. While the menu may lack in other departments, Spicy Bob’s Petoskey more than makes up for it in their pizza choices and numerous specialty pizzas. You can choose from Veggie, Meaty, Supreme, Hawaiian, Midnight Express, Build Your Own, Philly Steak, BBQ Chicken, Mediterranean, Chicken Ranch, and Veggie. They even offer Chicago-Style and stuffed crust options. The pizza is very good (mostly because of the zesty sauce). If I had to compare it to a chain, I’d say it fares much higher than Hungry Howies (and especially Little Caesers), but quite in the ballpark of “Downstate” favorites like Green Lantern, Louie’s Pizza, or Buddy’s Pizza. The prize skews a bit high for the pizzas clocking in at nearly $17 for a large specialty pizza – that’s quite a bit a for large, hand-tossed pizza and much higher than Mancino’s.
