Stony Creek Metropark Nature Center review, pics, hours, and info for the Nature Center at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Twp, MI. If you’re entering Stony Creek Metropark from Main Park Rd, follow the road to the right until you see signs for the Nature Center road.
Renovated from the ground-up in 2009, the Stony Creek Nature Center is very modern and features hand-on interactive learning stations, numerous displays, easy access to nature areas, and many critters to check out. The Stony Creek Nature wasn’t much more than a house with some aquariums in it when I was a kid. I’m thankful for the upgrade and thankful they held on to the beautiful wooden balcony deck that overlooks acres of scenic forest and a stream.

Stony Creek’s Nature Center, like other Metroparks nature centers, host home-school programs, scout programs, school trips, and more. Park interpreters are always on-hand to provide info whether you are part of a school group, or simply visiting with your kids. Don’t forget to check out animals outside, the woodland ponds you can hike to, and the several miles of marked (and unmarked) hiking trails.
You can visit the SC Nature Center to see live snakes, turtles and fish, along with seasonal exhibits. Additionally, Park interpreters host nature walks and interpretive programs including programs aboard a 34-foot Voyageur canoe. Scout programs, home school programs, and field trips are offered at Stony Creek Nature Center under the guidance of a trained naturalist.
A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required for access to the Nature Center. Vehicle permits are on sale NOW. You can pick one up at metroparks.com OR visit your local Metropark today.
