Stony Creek Metropark Playground review, pics, and info for Eastwood Beach playground, bike rental, inflatable waterslide, beach and other amenities. Eastwood Beach is located inside Stony Creek Metropark. Simply follow Main Park Road left and you’ll see Eastwood Beach entrance on your right-hand side.
Stony Creek can be a daunting place to visit for first-timers. The park is situated on a lake with 6.2 mile drive around it. The entire park is dotted with named picnic areas and shelters… and each has their own special amenities… but Eastwood Beach is the “go to” for families because of the sheer number of activities it hosts in the summer.
Stony Creek Metropark Playground Review & Pics
Built in 2012, the Eastwood Beach playground covers almost a full acre of beachfront. The playground has features that you won’t find at many other playscapes. There are two interesting Scavenger hunts that have kids searching for listed pictures all throughout the playscapes. Even though it’s a basic scavenger hunt, the kids are excited to run around the playscape looking for the pictures until they find all of them.
OAKLAND COUNTY PLAYGROUNDS AND PLAYSCAPES
There are also sound activated features at the children’s playscape at Stony Creek’s Eastwood Beach. Children have fun “winding up” the Nature sound machines and the steering wheel auto driver with sound.
One of the most popular features of the Stony Creek playground is a hydraulic fireman “elevator style” pole. Gone are the days of kids sliding down the playground fireman pole. This new piece lowers children slowly to the ground and then rises back to the upper level once the children step off. The kids thought this was so much fun, and they’ve never seen anything like it.
Another hit is the life-sized spider web at Stony Creek’s playscape. This is made up of thick elastic ropes that all link and intertwine, building up into a 3-dimensional climbing maze. It’s a victory in the child’s eyes when they reach the center.
Eastwood Beaches grounds are dotted with many picnic areas and benches so you can keep an eye on the kids. The beach, playground, and giant inflatable waterslide (info below) all located at Eastwood Beach (in addition to other amenities). Stony Creek is HUGE, but Eastwood Beach is sort of one-stop shopping for families with small children in terms of places to go at Stony Creek. If only their awesome Nature Center was at Eastwood… :)
