The Lego Movie Review – review of the LEGO Movie 3D starring Will Ferrell. I attended an advanced screening for this Lego Movie review.
The LEGO Movie is a 3D computer animated film that features everything based on LEGO characters and creations. The main plot of the story is about a LEGO character named Emmet, who is an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as a super person and the key to saving the LEGO world. He is drafted into a quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey that is completely out of character for Emmet who is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the entertainment value of The LEGO Movie. Even though it’s a kid’s film, it is quite entertaining. The entire film is LEGO’s. So, everything you see in the movie is made with LEGO’s as if you’re inside a child’s LEGO land creation. It’s super creative, colorful, and not a detail is missed. The LEGO characters are believable and in true character as well… imagine what your LEGO toys would say if they could talk – this is just that.
The LEGO Movie is filled with humor. It plays on the fact that it is portraying toys and builds comedic moments from that basis. From a “flowing” plastic head of hair that basically spin rotates on the LEGO head to quick costume changes that “snap” on… it’s all well thought out and portrayed humorously.
