Stony Creek Fall Wagon Tours – at Stony Creek Metropark – 90 minute wagon tours. Book either a 10a or 1p ride. Hop on the tractor-drawn wagon and enjoy the beauty of fall along a Nature Trail. Along the way, staff will share stories about Stony Creek’s history and various natural features. After your tour, enjoy a roaring campfire to celebrate the season. Program is weather dependent. Heritage Park Nature Center Thanksgiving Hike and Seek – 1p-2p OR 2p-3p (248-536-5617) Enjoy a guided hike and search for local plants and animals. Make a fall-themed craft to take home. $3. Stony Creek Metropark Kids Night at the Nature Center – Drop your kids off and enjoy your Friday night, kid-free. Your kids will have a blast as they meet the nature center animals, including our nocturnal opossum. They’ll get a chance to explore outside along a trail, looking for tracks in the moonlight, gazing at the growing moon, and listening for owl calls and coyote howls. Kids will warm up around our campfire and cook s’mores. Snacks will be provided. Ages 7-12. $10 per child. Pre-registration is required online or by calling 586-781-9113.
Westland MLK Celebration and Remembrance Walk
Westland MLK Celebration and Remembrance Walk – The City will start with a remembrance walk to commemorate his life and legacy followed by our annual ceremony to express how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had inspired us, what his message means to us, and to help inspire people to continue with his message and help make the world a more inclusive and righteous place for us and our children to live in.
