Martin Luther King Day Events 2023 Metro Detroit – Metro Detroit, Michigan events and activities honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Day 2023 is Monday, January 16. In addition to the celebrations, I’ve also included some school’s out fun things to do for kids.

Milford Martin Luther King Jr Day Events – MLK March on Main Street

Grab your family and friends and head downtown to join us for the 18th annual March on Main Street in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Lineup begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Kroger parking lot. The march begins at 1 p.m. and will conclude at the The Suzanne Haskew Arts Center. Hosted by Huron Valley MLK Day.

Community-wide celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a community-wide celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Operation Cover Me for Grace Centers of Hope. Theme for 2023 is “HOPE”. Community Challenge: challenge the citizens of Auburn Hills to commit to taking steps that promote beauty, love, and justice in the community and beyond. Auburn Hills is in need of 1.5-yard sections of fleece to make tie fleece blankets to donate to Grace Centers of Hope. Also, will accept blankets already made. On January 16, at Berkley High School, students, staff, and community members are invited to take part in a Day On to honor Dr. King’s legacy. Both Berkley Schools and Royal Oak students are collaborating on this event that will include speakers, the Detroit Youth Choir, testimonials on what Dr. King and his “I have a dream” speech mean to you, and a Freedom March around the school. Come dressed for the weather and ready to work and build an igloo-style snow fort. No snow? No problem. Create a fort made from other natural materials instead. Deconstruct the fort at the end and talk a bit about “leaving no trace”. A campfire and hot chocolate will also be provided.
