Westland MLK Celebration and Remembrance Walk – The City will start with a remembrance walk to commemorate his life and legacy followed by our annual ceremony to express how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had inspired us, what his message means to us, and to help inspire people to continue with his message and help make the world a more inclusive and righteous place for us and our children to live in. Kensington Metropark Chickadee Chow Down – at Kensington Metropark (810-227-8910, metroparks.com)
Bundle up and enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience. Around the Nature Center, a variety of winter songbirds will eagerly fly to your hand for seeds. Learn how to identify the birds you might feed, and how to properly feed songbirds in the park. Then take a short, guided walk along a mixed gravel path to meet your new feathered friends. Seed provided. Bring your camera. Lightly colored gloves or mittens are recommended for best results. This entire program is outdoors so dress warmly. All ages. $3 per child / $5 per adult / Under 2 FREE. Pre-registration is required online or by calling 810-227-8910.
