Downtown Oxford is another great Oakland County destination. It’s filled with many great shops and places to eat. One place that is well known for having authentic Mexican food is Casa Real.
Casa Real Oxford
The Casa Real Oxford menu is huge. You’ll sift through plenty of pages filled with so many options including drinks (Wines, Mexican beers, cocktails, daiquiris, Margaritas); a Vegetarian menu with healthy options like a taco without the shell and instead a lettuce wrap filled with grilled veggies avocado cheese and pock de pina; salads; soups; quesadillas; nachos; appetizers; burritos; fajitas; chimichangas; eggs; chicken and steak dishes; enchiladas; seafood specials; desserts and more.
Some of you (like us) may be used to ordering combo dishes off the menu at Mexican restaurants. There are none listed on this menu, but once we asked the waitress she told us they don’t have it anymore on the menu but we could still order it. The staff at Casa Real in Oxford is super nice and helpful. It’s quite obvious they work hard to provide excellent service. If you have something in mind, just ask and hopefully they can help you out.
When seated, we were served the traditional Mexican restaurant chips and salsa. The salsa at Casa Real is smooth and poured table side from a mini carafe. There’s no choice between hot or mild – a mild salsa is served.
Casa Real Oxford hosts Latin Night and Karaoke events on a regular basis. I’m looking forward to joining in on some free salsa lessons on Latin night, a fun-filled evening that happens every Saturday night on Casa Real dance floor. And, if I get enough guts, I might just try some karaoke as well which is every Friday from 9pm-2am. Casa Real’s Happy Hour is from 2p-6p Monday through Friday. Enjoy $3 specials: Golden Margarita, Cuervo Shots, Mexican & Draft Beer, House Wine, Gorditas, Mexi-Burger, and Moyetes. Latin Night at Casa Real is a popular Oxford event!
Casa Real Mexican Restaurant in Oxford is totally casual. Parents won’t need to be concerned if the kids need to get up and move around a bit. There’s a small play area with video games and activities making it a great restaurant for kids. And if you’re concerned about the kids getting antsy, or if you’re just in a rush, at Casa Real you can order ahead and have your food ready when you get there.
The food at Casa Real is full of flavor. We ordered off the lunch menu. I enjoyed a chicken chimichanga and my husband got a combo meal with a beef burrito and a taco. Everything was served fresh and piping hot. It took a bit longer than your average wait, but it was worth the wait – you could tell they just didn’t take your order and shove it into the microwave. It was made fresh. The white meat chicken in my chimichanga was seasoned just right, super juicy and flavorful, as was the ground beef in my husband’s meal. The rice is not the typical red tomato sauce based rice. It’s a seasoned white rice.
