Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Auburn Hills Mexican Restaurants

MEX Great Lakes Crossing (4248 Baldwin Rd, Suite 615, Auburn Hills 48326, 248-209-7084 (between district 6 and District 7 parking, website)
Mex is a trendy Mexican restaurant serving upscale Mexican cuisine in a fun atmosphere. Lethal Margaritas and an awesome Hot Sauce bar add to the great ambiance. Chips are served hot & fresh, and you can customize your plates and creations with all sorts of options.

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Clarkston Mexican Restaurants

Jalapenos (7743 Sashabaw, Clarkston, MI 48348, 248-241-6394, website)
Authentic Mexican food like their Pontiac location, but this location is more modern and features a full drink menu including Margaritas that are the talk of the town. You can tell that the staff takes pride in their food. They served the food quick, fresh, and delicious, and they were kind and courteous. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Clawson Mexican Restaurants

Mojave Cantina (48 W Fourteen Mile Rd, Clawson, MI 48017, 248-291-5653, www.mojavemi.com)
Mojave Cantina offers original ethnic dishes cooked from scratch using fresh, local ingredients. Great atmosphere, great happy hour specials, great service. Extensive menu. Above average food but I’ve had better Oakland County Mexican cuisine. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Lake Orion Mexican Restaurants

ForestMexicanGrillFeature620x350Forest Mexican Cantina (780 S. Lapeer Rd., Lake Orion, MI 48362, 248-690-9292)
Awesome authentic Mexican food, a vast menu and HUGE portions are what you’ll find at Forest Mexican Cantina. Forest Mexican Cantina is a large restaurant suitable for large groups and a step-up in quality from restaurants like Grand Azteca and Mi Zarape. In addition to being a family-style restaurant, there’s a bit of a party vibe happening at Forest – lots of TVs and a fully-loaded bar. Enjoy your big-gulp sized drinks or order Margaritas by the pitcher! (Review – Pics)

Sagebrush Cantina (28 S. Broadway, Lake Orion, MI 48362, 248-693-0100)
Easily one of my favorites, Sagebrush has an extensive menu and serves up fantastic Mexican food in a party-like atmosphere. Sagebrush is both a great place to take the family AND a great night out because it is well-priced and the food is fantastic. Sagebrush is far from a hidden gem, it’s seemingly ALWAYS crowded. There’s another Sagebrush Cantina location in Fenton, Michigan. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Madison Hts Mexican Restaurants

Casa Real (31313 Dequindre Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071, 248-268-1294)
The interior of Casa Real Madison Heights very much resembles the same Mexican decor of the Casa Real Oxford location – same great dishes too! Boasts an extensive drinks menu with cocktails like the Mexicosmo, Daiquiries topped with whipped cream, Mexican drinks, 11 different flavored Margaritas, 40 different tequilas, and much more. Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Oxford Mexican Restaurants

casareal5Casa Real (21 S. Washington, Oxford, MI 48371, 248-969-2801)
Casa Real, Oxford MI offers authentic Mexican cuisine and a family-friendly prices. And, Latin nights featuring Salsa dancing and karaoke. Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Pontiac Mexican Restaurants

Jalapenos (806 Baldwin Ave, Pontiac, MI 48340, 248-454-0887)
Best salsa I’ve ever had. Family-friendly affordable prices and beyond authentic Mexican food. The interior isn’t the coziest restaurant in the world but the food is a tremendous value! (Review – Pics)

Mi Zarape (3800 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI 48341, 248-454-8608)
Very comparable to Grand Azteca – family affordable, yet a little generic. However, the food is priced right and the atmosphere is nice. Mi Zarape also has a location in Southfield, MI. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Rochester Rochester Hills Mexican Restaurants

rojo6Rojo Mexican Bistro (401 N. Main, Rochester, MI 48307, 248-601-9300)
Rojo serves upscale Mexican food in a chic, modern restaurant in the heart of Downtown Rochester. It’s the Andiamo of Mexican food (well, it is actually owned by Andiamo). Rojo is a step up from traditional family Mexcian fare. They’ve taken some flak about their prices but I found they’re lunch specials to be quite affordable (for the quality). Rojo has over 100 premium tequilas & 12 Margaritas to choose from. You can find another Rojo location in Novi, MI. (Review – Pics)

Miguel’s Cantina (870 S. Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307, 248-453-5371)
The strategy to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to Rochester Hills was well-planned. Previous owners of the Baja Fresh at Village Square Mall decided they wanted a unique, sit-down Mexican food experience. They partnered with the manager and a Chef (Chef Pedro) from the original Senor Frog’s in Mazatlan on the Pacific Coast near Baja. Miguels Cantina menu offers the Mexican favorites, with the most popular dish being the Plato De Miguel – a great combination plate including carne asada, carnitas, and a chille relleno. Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Royal Oak Mexican Restaurants

Monterrey Cantina (312 South Main Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067, 248-545-1940)
Monterrey hasn’t aged well since its heydey as one of the the trendy restaurants in Royal Oak in the 1990s. The decor is a little dated, the prices a little steep and I’ve had better Mexcian food. It’s still a fun place to dine and you can’t beat the outdoor patio for people watching. Monterrey fits the bill, but just barely. I’m still looking forward to trying Cantina Diablos just down Main Street. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Troy Mexican Restaurants

elcharro6El Charro (3651 Rochester Road, Troy, MI, 248-688-9642)
A Macomb County favorite, El Charro expanded to Troy in 2011. I’ve never been a huge fan of El Charro but the service is excellent. I was upset that El Charro did away with their unique system of an “order up counter” and drive-thru system. They ditched this system for standard wait-staff service. (Review – Pics)

Grand Azteca (935 E. Long Lake Rd, Troy, MI 48085, 248-528-0855)
Grand Azteca Mexican Restaurant has locations in Madison Heights, Fraser, Warren, Troy, and Sterling Heights. Kid-friendly, family-style restaurant with a Big Boy meets Mexican restaurant theme. Decent Mexican food and easy on the pocketbook. (Review – Pics)

La Botana (5947 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085)
La Botana Mexican Food is a carry-out Mexican restaurant in Troy, Michigan. Their slogan is “Best Mexican Food in Town!” And, they don’t disappoint. La Botana Mexican Food is an “order at the counter” style Mexican restaurant. VERY authentic Mexican food and perfect “to go”. (Review – Pics)

Oakland County Mexican Restaurants – Waterford

elpatio3El Patio (7622 Highland Road, Waterford, MI 48327, 248-666-5231)
El Patio is best-known for their extremely affordable prices and lightning-fast service! El Patio also has locations in Livonia and Farmington Hills and I hear those locations stay true to the El Patio mission of affordable, authentic Mexican cuisine. (Review – Pics)

Trini and Carmen’s Authentic Mexican Cuisine (1715 N Telegraph Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48328, 248-332-6851)
One of the first Mexican Restaurants to open in Oakland County, Trini and Carmen’s is a Waterford tradition. The restaurant is HUGE with tons of seating but its showing its age. The food at T&C is tasty (and very affordable). I’d love to come back to visit with a festive Friday Night crowd to try some of their funky margarita options. (Review – Pics)
