Make Your Own Dog Treats Recipe – To Cook Salmon Jerky Dog Treats
To cook – I cook ours using the dehydrator setting on our toaster oven. Ours allows us to set the temp and time. I set it at 130 degrees for 11 hours. I remove the thinner salmon jerky pieces from the tray and then put the thicker pieces back in for about another four hours. You can also cook the salmon jerky in the oven at 175 degrees, but not sure how long it would take. If cooking in the oven, be sure to elevate the salmon strips by putting them on a wire rack. Place the wire rack on a baking sheet lined with foil for easy cleaning. Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the strips.
Once the salmon is done dehydrating, I peel the skins off and I dice the strips up into bite size pieces. I keep the skins and scraps and break them up into small pieces and put it in his food. He loves it.
