Metroparks Summer Camps 2019 – Summer camps for kids ages 6 and up at Hudson Mills Metropark, Indian Springs Metropark, Kensington Metropark, Lake St Clair Metropark, Oakwoods Metropark, Stony Creek Metropark, and Wolcott Metropark. Nature day camps, nature art camps, fun survival camps, science camps, farm camps, fish camp, and youth disc camps across the Metroparks this summer.

Metroparks Summer Camps – Hudson Mills Metropark Summer Camps

Daring Day for Kids Camp (ages 8+)
July 13, 2019 from 10a-2p
Build a survival hut, get lost (and un-lost) in a swamp, make natural noise-makers, learn how to survive a bear attack, learn how to identify poisonous plants and snakes, and more. Boys and girls will have fun learning real wilderness survival skills. Cost is $30.

Disc Golf for Youth Camp (ages 10-18)
July 16, 2019 from 10a-2p
Learn the basics of the sport of disc golf, then play a few holes on Hudson Mill’s highly rated course. Campers will learn the rules of the game, equipment, and techniques. Cost is $30. disc golf starter set available for $15.

Fish Camp (ages 6+)
July 18, 2019 from 10a-2p
Campers get to make a fish print t-shirt, learn tackle craft, casting basics and will fish the Huron River. Bring a t-shirt to design. Cost is $30.

Metroparks Summer Camps – Indian Springs Metropark Summer Camps

Nature Explorer’s Day Camp (ages 7-12)
July 16 through July 19 from 10a-3p
Kids, explore two different Metroparks (Indian Springs & Kensington) with different activities every day at this camp. Hunt for insects, experience life underwater, dip in the pond with nets, explore the prairie, jump in the mud, meet Ranger the red-tailed hawk, visit the Spray ‘n’ Play water park and ride the Island Queen pontoon boat. These are just some of the activities in this fun-filled week. Campers should plan on bringing a backpack, lunch, water clothes, towel, bug spray, sunscreen, and water bottle each day. Cost is $150.

Metroparks Summer Camps – Kensington Metropark Summer Camps

Farm Camp (ages 8-13)
June 18 through June 21 AND August 6 through August 9 from 9a-3p each day (2 sessions)
Each day will offer a new adventure. The camp is very much hands-on and provides children with farm experiences that will leave a lasting impression. Campers will participate in daily farm chores as well as various organized activities. Planned activities may include – outdoor adventures like fishing, hikes (with goats!) and scavenger hunts; craft projects such as candle-dipping, pierced tin, and paper mache; pioneer life experiences like barn-raising, rope skills, or playing old-fashioned games; milking a cow or goat; or grooming and harnessing draft horses before going for a horse-drawn hayride. Cost is $175 per session.

Farmer for a Day Camp (ages 8-15)
July 10, July 17, and August 17 from 10a-3p (3 sessions)
Designed to be educational and fun, this program allows kids the chance to work alongside our farmers taking care of animals. Each program includes a chance to meet all of the farm’s animals. Kids will perform hands-on tasks such as feeding and watering animals, mucking stalls, and hauling hay and grain sacks. They will also get a chance to make a tasty farm food such as ice cream, bread, or cider. Cost is $40 per session.

Summer Blast Science Camp (ages 7+)
July 10 from 10a-2p
Through interactive demonstrations campers will illuminate the many reasons why the sun is so important. Beat the heat and learn about kitchen chemistry by making your own ice cream. No science camp would be complete without some crazy science experiments — make things pop, fizz, and explode (safely, of course) while learning about different types of chemical reactions. Cost is $40.

Farmer Jr Day Camp (ages 6-8)
July 12, July 19, and August 23 from noon-3p (3 sessions)
If your child has the energy and enthusiasm for farm chores, but maybe not the muscle power yet, this is their program. Similar to the “Farmer for a Day,” (see above) but designed for the capabilities of younger kids. Cost is $30.

Explore the Kensington Metropark nature area and collect items from nature to make amazing sculptures. Spend time at the lake while painting an awesome canvas. Then explore the outdoors to get inspiration for creating your own nature print t-shirt. Canvasses provided, please bring a white t-shirt. Cost is $40.

Daring Day for Boys (ages 8+)
August 3 from 10a-2p
Build a survival hut, make natural noise-makers, learn how to survive a bear attack, how to identify poisonous plants and venomous snakes, and more. Boys will have fun learning real wilderness survival skills. Cost is $40.

Metroparks Summer Camps – Lake St Clair Metropark Summer Camps

Junior Naturalist Day Camp (ages 9-12)
August 12 through August 13 from 10a-3p
Get ready to get dirty during Nature Day Camp. Campers will search for critters by bug sweeping, pond dipping, and digging through logs. The kids will get to see what fish are biting when they dip their line. Kids will explore the beach and play games in the sand. Cost is $75.

Nature Explorer Day Camp (ages 7-8)
August 15 through August 16 from 10a-1p)
Get ready to get dirty during Nature Day Camp. Campers will search for critters by bug sweeping, pond dipping, and digging through logs. The kids will get to see what fish are biting when they dip their line. Cost is $60.

Nature Camp (ages 8-14)
June 20 through June 21 from 10a-2p
Kids will love this nature camp focused on the plants and animals of Oakwoods Metropark. From the fields and prairies, to the deer and rabbits, kids will be covering it all during this two-day camp. Cost is $75.

Nature Art Camp (ages 8-14)
July 25 through July 26 from 10a-2p
Capture the beauty of the natural world through journaling, crafting and more. Head into the woods to see all that nature has to offer, and then use art to make natural keepsakes and lasting memories in this two-day camp. Cost is $75.

Metroparks Summer Camps – Stony Creek Metropark Summer Camps

Nature Center Day Camp (ages 8-10)
June 24 through June 26 and July 8 through July 10 from 10a-3p (2 sessions)
Children will enjoy three days of outdoor fun, including: stream exploration, nature inspired crafts, a boat building contest, campfire cooking and more. Campers will be exploring the park by wagon ride and will get a chance to ride the waterslide. Cost is $130 per session

Metroparks Summer Camps – Wolcott Metropark Summer Camps

Farmer’s Camp (ages 5-14)
July 9 through July 11 and July 23 through July 25 from ? to ? (2 sessions)
This 3-day camp will offer children the opportunity to work, learn and have fun on a working farm. Activities vary for ages, but may include a scavenger hunt, hike, candle dipping, felting, games, gardening, crafts, farm chores, and much more. Cost is $95 per session.

Pre-registration required for these camps is required. Campers are encouraged to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle for each day of camp.
