Miller’s Big Red Cider Mill Romeo is Now Big Red Orchards

Miller’s Big Red Cider Mill Romeo review, pics, and info – Miller’s Big Red Cider Mill and Apple Orchard is located on 32 Mile Rd in the Washington Twp / Romeo MI area.

Miller’s Big Red is a great way to spend the day and ranks highly among the local Michigan cider mills in offering a complete cider mill experience.

Update 8/20/22 – Big Red Cider Mill to Close for Good October 30, 2022

First Middleton, then Erwin Orchards, and now this. This one stings :( This is the last fall that Big Red Apple Orchard AKA Miller’s Big Red will be open as a cider mill. I asked management if it was OK to put the word out and their response is… “Absolutely!! We’ve got a great crop of apples, awesome bounces houses and our biggest petting farm ever. We’re hoping to have a great last season. We’ve tried really hard to sell it as an ongoing orchard but that doesn’t seem likely at this point. Thanks so much for your support!” Last day is October 30, 2022.

Update 8/11/23 – Big Red Cider Mill, no longer Miller’s Big Red Orchard, is no longer closed permanently.

Update 9/8/23 – NEW Plans for the Big Red Orchard, FORMERLY Known at Miller’s Big Red – READ ALL ABOUT IT

One trip and you’ll soon realize that Miller’s is a year-round fully functioning farm going way beyond apples and pumpkins. In addition to the cider, Millers offers a Country Store that features pies, breads, jams, jellies, donuts and much more. Miller’s also boasts a humongous greenhouse filled with various Annuals, Perennials and other bedding plants. U-Pick strawberries, cherries, pumpkins, raspberries and 3 kinds of apples run through their respective seasons (check their website for details). Millers also has its own ice cream parlor and makes their own mackinaw fudge.

Miller’s is fun for kids, but doesn’t have that fall theme park fun factor like Blake’s Cider Mill, Westview Orchards, or 3 Cedars Cider Mill does so the kiddie fun is somewhat limited. What parents will appreciate most about Miller’s is the overall cleanliness and vastness room to explore throughout the grounds. Of course, that’s in addition to the incredible cider, donuts, & pies!

There is plenty to do for kids at Miller’s. Bring plenty of quarters to feed the bunnies, goats, ponies, llamas, pigs, and other petting farm animals! There’s a giant straw mountain to climb with an attached slide. Don’t forget to check out their Big Red corn maze – just challenging enough for fall fun.

Miller’s offers U-pick (in season) for 10 varieties of apples, pumpkins, strawberries, and raspberries.

Sadly, Miller’s Big Red haunted hayrides are no longer! They stopped the traditional fall frights in the Fall of ’13. It’s sad to see it go, my friends and I used to go on the haunted hayrides when we were in high school a million years ago.

I’ve been coming to Miller’s Big Red Cider Mill for decades (literally) and they just keep adding more and more facets to the cider mill and store each season. I’m also impressed with how clean Miller’s is and how many overall improvements they make to the place every year.
