River Woods Park Auburn Hills Review and Pics – River Woods Park is located on Squirrel Road north of Auburn Rd and is maintained by Auburn Hills Parks and Recreation.
River Woods Park features paved parking in close proximity to many of the parks features – the key feature is its location on the Clinton River Watershed. River Woods Park marks the halfway point of the Clinton River. The park is beautifully maintained and highlights the Clinton River with paved paths, bridge over the river, a wooden boardwalk, and numerous benches placed along the river. River Woods Park also has narrow wooded trails for more experienced hikers.
The park is fairly close to the Downtown Auburn Hills area and is part of large network of parks maintained by the Auburn Hills Recreation department.

River Woods boasts an impressive picnic shelter / pavilion in the center of the park that can be rented or reserved. The shelter is very modern and has indoor restrooms, a fireplace, and numerous picnic tables both in and surrounding the pavilion.
Close to the shelter and pavilion and even closer to the parking lot is a small, playscape with a small climbing wall. The playscape is adjacent to a playground that contains a basketball court with 4 goals.
River Woods is a nice park to visit if you’re a nature-goer and it’s a great place for a picnic… but there won’t be a lot here to occupy the minds of children for very long… at least when compared to other local parks in the area with many more features. The playscape is smallish and little dated when you compare it others in the area. If you have younger children, a more child-friendly Auburn Hills park for them to visit might be just down the road to Riverside Park.

River Woods Park is located just north of the Skate Park which is free for skateboarders, in-line skaters, and BMX bikes from April through November.
