Thai Taste Troy MI Review – Pics, hours, and menu info – Thai Taste is located in Troy, Michigan in a plaza off Livernois at Long Lake. I had to make it out there after our recent Facebook post about Thai restaurants and all the comments that were made about Thai Taste being a local favorite.

Because I like to compare apples to apples, and let’s face it… I like sticking with what I like, I ordered the Pad Thai with scallops from Thai Taste. I got a take-out order even though Thai Taste has an eat in dining area. The dining area is clean and spacious with enough tables to accommodate quite a few guests – more so than the typical Thai restaurant.
I could tell the staff at Thai Taste was very nice, even from the short time I was there. My order was ready and waiting for me and I had only called it in less than 10 minutes prior.

So, now on to the food. I have to be honest – it’s difficult to judge a restaurant based on one dish. So please know that the reviews can be different if trying a different dish. However, in this case, I thought the Pad Thai was ok. It wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad. I preferred it to some that I’ve tried, but it didn’t compare to Sukothai in Rochester Hills or Bangkok Crossing in Lake Orion. I like a Pad Thai that is not made with a brown gravy/soy sauce of any sort. The Pad Thai at Thai Taste had a a light brown sauce that even gave it a bit of a sweet side which I’m not looking for in Pad Thai. The scallops were average size. I’ve had some that were smaller, and definitely some that were larger. But, they seemed fresh… they did not taste like they were frozen and thawed.
The portion size was slightly less than average. I can sometimes get three to four meals out of one take-out order at a Thai restaurant. This order of Pad Thai was closer to 2 to 3 portions. Pricing is what you’d find for good Thai food. A little on the higher end, but common for Thai food. I think I paid $12.19 for my order. The take-out order did not come with soup or any sides, which seems to be the norm with Thai food take-out.
