Tienda Mexicana is a small, cozy restaurant on one side, divided by a wall with a store carrying Mexican favorites and goods on the other side.

When you first walk into Tienda Mexicana restaurant, you will see a room with tables decorated with colorful tablecloths. The dine-in area is small with about 10-15 tables. Guests seat themselves and menus are already at the table. The menu at Tienda Mexicana is one page, one sided. They stick to the basics and do it well…no commercialized frills and extras here. The food seems very authentic, and the staff even greets you at your table speaking in both English and Spanish.
The Tienda Mexicana menu includes options such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, fajitas, tostadas, huaraches, enchiladas, tamales, guacamole, chips and salsa on the side (not free with dine in)… There are no seafood options. The protein choices are chicken, beef, sausage and pork, and tongue and tripe. On the weekends, Tienda Mexicana also offers menudo and pozole.
I ordered the Tienda Mexicana chicken and beef mix fajitas. Honestly, they were the best fajitas I’ve ever had. They were not mixed with a sauce, they weren’t even “wet.” It was like it was char-grilled with seasoning. I don’t typically get steak because I haven’t liked it any time I’ve ordered it. But, at Tienda Mexicana, I liked it even better than the chicken! When ordering, the staff was super helpful about food allergies, even though it appeared that there was no cheese anyway on the fajitas according to the menu. Even if I ate cheese, it wasn’t needed on these fajitas.
I also ordered a side of chips and salsa. The salsa was some of the best I’ve had, and I’m very picky about salsa. This was a perfect blend of a smoother consistency with a fresh flavor, and the perfect level of spice. I couldn’t finish it all and my son quickly devoured it once I brought it home.
Tienda Mexicana offers pop or water for beverages. No alcohol. Guests grab their own beverage from a fridge at the front door, and let the register know what they had when paying.
Tienda Mexicana is quite busy. Sitting there on a Friday late afternoon for an early dinner, people just kept coming in and out continually. It’s a pretty popular place with people even driving from far to go there.
The prices at Tienda Mexicana are very reasonable. You pay your bill at the register located on the store side. You leave your tip in the tip jar at the market register.
