Beverly Park Sled Hill

I was a little hesitant when I arrived to Beverly Park. It didn’t seem to have very many hills for sledding. The parking lot is about a quarter-mile away from the park’s sled hills and surrounded by baseball fields. After a short walk past the woods, the area opened up and I could see the base of the Beverly Park sledding hill. Wow!

BEVERLY PARK REVIEW AND PICS

Beverly Park Sled Hill Videos

The Beverly Park sled hill is quite large! Unlike Civic Center Park in Madison Heights, the sledding hill has walkways and stairs on the north side and south side of the hill for the kids so there is plenty of room for them to get off of the sled hill and back up to the top.

The sledding hill at Beverly Park has 2 sides for sleds and snowboards. The east section of the sled hill is a nice, fast slope for sledding. The west section of the sledding hill at Beverly Park features a plateau so, if you start from the top it runs quickly and flattens out before taking you on another drop! The teens, pre-teens and snowboarders seemed to favor the west side of the sled hill while the kids and smaller children favored the single-slope of the eastern side of the sledding hill. Both sides of sledding hills are fast and smooth.

I took my kids to Beverly Park when it was relatively crowded but there was still plenty of room for everyone to sled and snowboard. As previously stated, the stairways at the north and south sides of the large sled hill make it easy for kids to sled and then get out of the way to scramble up the sledding hill to try again.

I highly recommend the Beverly Park sled hill if you live in The Village of Beverly Hills, Franklin, Clawson, Troy, Southfield, Madison Heights, Farmington/Farmington Hills or surrounding southern Oakland County, Michigan communities. I’d even recommend a longer trip if you live further away and want to try sledding somewhere new!

The Beverly Park sled hill isn’t the only thing happening at the park. Village of Beverly Hills officials manage to put up a very nice outdoor ice rink every winter that gets a lot of use. Rink is located at Beverly Park near the tennis courts. It’s open ice, no boundaries or retaining walls. Open beginning at 8a, park admission is FREE. Bring your own skates and skate at your own risk. For ice conditions info, you can contact the Village of Beverly Hills at 248-646-6404.

Beverly Park in Beverly Hills is an excellent year-round neighborhood park and one of our favorites in Oakland County. The park is maintained by the Village of Beverly Hills and hosts many of the village’s seasonal recreational events. Beverly Hills Park events include Memorial Day CarnivalWinter Family Fun Day, Halloween events, and more.
