Blake’s Cider Mill Funland

Blake’s Cider Mill Funland review, pics, and info. Visit Blake’s Cider Mill in Armada in the Fall for Barnyard Funland and Spookyland. Funland for low-scare and Spookyland to get your fright on.

Blake’s Cider Mill in Armada has two locations just a couple of miles apart. Both locations offer a fall festival but the Armada Center Road location seems to have a bit more to do for kids. Blake’s Barnyard Funland at the North Avenue location morphs into HAUNTED BLAKE’S at night during the weekends from Mid-September through Halloween.

The not-so-scary Blake’s Cider Mill Funland is designed to entertain kids from ages 2 – 14 years old. Barnyard Funland is open 7 days per week during the fall from 10a-6p. There are more attractions added to the fun (and the price) of weekend Barnyard Funland. You can even buy a season pass and visit both locations all Fall long.

I’ve taken my kids to Blake’s Cider Mill Funland a few times over the years. I always think they’ve just about outgrown the experience but the experience really is entertaining for even pre-teens.

The Haunted Barn doesn’t have live actors jumping out at you but features loud noises, scary music and shocking effects. Even in broad daylight, the Haunted Barn was VERY scary so I wouldn’t recommend it to young children. My nine-year old was brave enough to try it (while holding my hand). He enjoyed the experience like he was riding his very first roller coaster. Still, I couldn’t see him going it alone (or in the dark). It was a great introduction for the days where he’ll be old enough/brave enough to attend the truly terrifying night-time haunted attractions at Blake’s. My 7-year-old daughter (at the time) wanted no part of it. Kids have a way of letting you know whether or not they’re ready for scary experiences.

The expansive grounds of Blake’s Cider Mill Funland make for a great fall and Halloween atmosphere. Like I said, there is plenty to see and do. The animal stations feature interactive quizzes and the corn mazes are a blast to explore. My kids enjoyed being able to run around the mazes and wore themselves out scaling the gigantic Straw Mountain.

We weren’t planning on staying a long time but we ended spending almost 3 hours at Barnyard Funland. The time goes quickly at each station of Barnyard Funland and it is attractive enough where you’ll want to spend some quality time visiting. The hay ride itself was a scenic 15 minute tour of Blake’s Orchards and a great way to enjoy the fresh autumn air. Since we made our trip on a Monday, the crowds were small and the conditions were ideal. Definitely something to consider as I know first-hand that cider mill crowds on fall weekends can be huge.

Fair Warning! If you want to avoid Cedar Point-like crowds, make a weekday trip – you’ll enjoy your visit MUCH more.
