Cider in The City at Beacon Park – Enjoy fresh donuts and cider, make your own seasonal crafts, take a horse-drawn hayride around the park, grab some food truck fare and engage in the themed activities. This is a FREE event hosted by The Downtown Detroit Partnership. Email info@downtowndetroit.org
Stony Creek Metropark Kids Night at the Nature Center – Drop your kids off and enjoy your Friday night, kid-free. Your kids will have a blast as they meet the nature center animals, including our nocturnal opossum. They’ll get a chance to explore outside along a trail, looking for tracks in the moonlight, gazing at the growing moon, and listening for owl calls and coyote howls. Kids will warm up around our campfire and cook s’mores. Snacks will be provided. Ages 7-12. $10 per child. Pre-registration is required online or by calling 586-781-9113.
Commerce Twp Preschool Open House
Commerce Twp Preschool Open House at Commerce Twp Community Library . Meet with preschools from Commerce, Walled Lake, Milford, and White Lake to help find the school best fit for your child. Representatives will be there to answer any questions you have about the process. This program is hosted in partnership with the Commerce Township Community, Walled Lake City, and Wixom Public Libraries. Children welcome. Light refreshments provided. Heritage Park Sweetheart Stroll
Heritage Park Sweetheart Stroll – Celebrate Valentines Day with a candle-lit hike through the trails of Heritage Park. Share your love of nature as you discover the courtship and mating behaviors of native animals. Complete the evening with a warm drink and sweet treats at the Nature Center. Ages 18+. Sylvan Lake Memorial Day Parade
Sylvan Lake Memorial Day Parade – 11a (lineup) / Parade at 11:30a at Sylvan Lake City Hall and Memorial Park.
The Parade will begin at 11:30a at City Hall and end at Memorial Park with a brief ceremony. Kids are welcome to decorate their bikes and participate in the parade. Veterans that wish to participate are asked to contact Jim Smith at 248-904-9085 to be recognized at Memorial Park ceremony. Kids can begin decorating their bikes for the bike parade (with supplies provided) at City Hall at 10:30a. If you would like to volunteer at the parade / ceremony please contact sylvanlakeparade@gmail.com.
