Heritage Park Farmington Hills Review

As you explore the park, you will notice that the trails are the most dominant feature of the park. The trails wind through the park and provide scenic, overlooking views of the area and the Rouge River.

The splash park will be a big attraction for children. It is located next to the playscape area that also features volleyball nets and a large, open field for any other activities you can think of.

The winter months also feature plenty of activity at Heritage Park. sledding, outdoor hockey, and cross-country skiing are the three popular activities in the park; but other activities and events are held at the park.

Any of the three picnic shelters in the park can be reserved through the Costick Center. You can call the center at 248-473-1800 to make reservations.

The park prohibits fishing in any pond or river located in the park and dogs are not allowed.

Many local events take place at Heritage Park through the seasons. Outdoor summer concerts and P&R events like Splash Bash, Marshmallow Drop, summer day camps, and several more.

Splash Pad at Heritage Park Farmington Hills

The splash pad is FREE for all to use! The spray areas contain several fountains, buckets, water guns, and mini soak arches to run through. The high buckets fill up and dump all over the kids. I’d estimate the entire spray area to be only around 2000 square feet, but there’s plenty of chilly water fun to be had in that small area! The perimeter of the spray pad is dotted with benches and picnic tables.

Heritage Park Farmington Hills – Final Thoughts

This park is an incredible resource… for residents of Farmington Hills and non-residents alike. I can’t think of another park in Oakland County (and I’ve seen my fair share of amazing local parks)… that has ALL of the features that Heritage Park has. The most impressive part of all it is… it’s all FREE. FREE admission, FREE parking, FREE sled hill, FREE splash pad, FREE programs, FREE concerts. It’s really amazing.

Never mind the human element and recreation that goes into this, the park’s physical landforms are wonderful for animals (and people) to explore. The park offers natural trails, paved trails, and mulched trails. The park’s topography features ponds, dense woods, grassy areas, rolling hills, scenic overlooks, marshes, and river views.

The shelters, facilities, bathrooms at the park are impeccably maintained. The ONE THING the park might be missing that maybe some other lesser parks in Oakland County have… is a monster playground / modern playscape on the scale of Kids Kingdom in Orion Twp or Innovation Hills in Rochester Hills. There are some decent play structures at Heritage Park, just not a show-stopping playground attraction. Still, I’m not complaining.
