Rochester Hills Festival of the Hills Pics
Here are some pics of the events at Rochester Hills Festival of the Hills through the years…
Each year the event starts at 6p with games, concerts, food trucks, bouncers, a petting zoo, a family outdoor movie, and more. A drone show has been added as part of the festivities before the grand finale… the 10:06p (sharp) fireworks show that has been billed in the past as “Michigan’s 2nd largest fireworks show” but I’m not sure that claim can still be made.

Each year, people head to Borden Park in Rochester Hills EARLY on the day of the fireworks to begin “saving their spots” for fireworks viewing, many as early as 8a.

The City starts shutting the roads near Borden Park starting at 4p. Starting at 4p, parking will be allowed on Hamlin Road / traffic will be ONE WAY going EAST on John R to Dequindre / going WEST on John R to Rochester Road. No parking signs in nearby subdivisions start going up about 4p.

If rain is forecast, you can rely on the City of Rochester Hills Insta & Facebook pages for the latest updates if there are any cancellations. The only times I can remember the event being postponed was for lightning, Covid pandemic, and once for a wildfire “poor air quality” forecast for SE Michigan that happened to fall on the day of the event. In all cases (except Covid which was ultimately cancelled), the event was rescheduled to a later date in the summer.

ABOUT Borden Park / Home of Rochester Hills Festival of the Hills
Borden Park had “state-of-the-art” facilities when it opened in the early 1990s. I give the City of Rochester Hills credit… they’ve made some key additions and improvements to the park throughout the years enabling the park to improve and stay with the times. This has included adding a modern Park Office building (with modern restroom facilities), updating courts to add several Pickleball courts, improving playground equipment, improving court surfaces, modernizing scoreboards, and hosting events at the park to garner interest.
