The sled hill at Waterford Oaks County Park is maintained by Oakland County Parks and Recreation. The sled hill is 320 feet long, 27 feet high, and narrow at about 30 feet wide. There are two walkways on each side of the hill for a safe climb back to the top. The sled hill at Waterford Oaks also features durable fencing that clearly outlines the sledding area.

The hill at Waterford Oaks isn’t the fastest or steepest in Oakland County – it’s more of a safe, smooth ride. If you’re looking for bone-jarring sled hills in SE Michigan, you may want to look elsewhere. If your kids are in the 5-11 years old range, this hill may be what you’re looking for. If your kids are younger than 5, there is no secondary or bunny hill at the park but could always just go up half-way or a quarter-way.

While I don’t think Waterford Oaks has the best sledding in Oakland County, one thing to keep in mind is the convenience. The parking is extremely close to the hill and the sled hill area is clearly defined and very safe.

The sledding hill is open to the public from sunrise to sunset daily only when conditions are ideal for sledding. Sometimes they turn on the lights and open the sled hill for evening sledding on weekends if conditions are ideal.
