Detroit Zoo Wild Lights pics, preview, and info for 2024 / 2025. 5 million LED Christmas lights illuminating more than 280 animal sculptures transform the Detroit Zoo grounds into a holiday feast for the eyes. “Wild Lights” is back for 2024 / 2025 with expanded days, expanded hours, more lights, more displays, and more options. The Zoo improves Wild Lights every year and now it is a full-fledged holiday tradition that should be on every Metro Detroiters Christmas bucket list.

Santa Claus at Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo – Snap a pick with Santa from 5p-10:30p on Fridays & Saturdays and 5p-9p on all other dates through 12/23/24

Field of Light – towers of lights move and change colors to the sound of Christmas and holiday music (included with admission)

Underwater Trail – A holiday lights underwater scene with an interactive wall. (included with admission)

Newly ENHANCED Enchanted Trail – A pathway illuminated by trees and animal displays. (included with admission)

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer in 4D – (additional fee applies)

RETURNING FOR 2024 – Toyland & Stepping Stones – a 40-foot-long train & holiday wishing tree. (included with admission)

Detroit Zoo Wild Lights Dates and Times 2024 / 2025

December – 1, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
January – 2, 3, 4, & 5

The Detroit Zoo closes at 4p on Wild Lights Days and the Wild Lights show begins at 5p and runs until 9p on select weeknights & Sundays & 5p-10:30p on Fridays & Saturdays. There will be no access to animal exhibits during Wild Lights.

Wild Lights Tickets / Admission Info 2024 / 2025

Ticket prices vary (between $17-$25 if you purchase in advance & $26 at the gate for General Admission) depending on time slot you purchase tickets for. Detroit Zoo parking is $8 and isn’t included in the price of admission. Parking fee is required for ALL vehicles. Children under 2 years old are FREE. Polar Packages will be offered for 2023 / 2024. Premium packages are available for 2024 / 2025 and Include – Zoo+Lights Package (includes Zoo admission for the day), Picnic Package (endless food buffet), Total Experience Package.   • General Admission tickets to Wild Lights start at $17 and range to $25 depending on date and time of the event. Parking is $8 per car.

The Detroit Zoo will light up the night this holiday season with Wild Lights, a spectacular holiday light display. For 30 nights, more than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and animal sculptures on a half-mile trail through the front of the Zoo. Advance tickets only, no walk-up admission.
