Metro Detroit Halloween Trick or Treat Weather Forecast 2021 – Halloween night weather for the Metro Detroit / SE Michigan area calls for less than a 20% chance of rain!
Sunday (Halloween) is supposed to be mostly cloudy in the day for Metro Detroit area for Trick or Treat times. You may be able see the waning crescent moon poking through the light cloud cover which may (barely) help light the way for the trick or treaters. Light winds of just above 10mph from the south should keep things warm (enough). Temps should be about 53 degrees when the trick or treat fun begins.
We haven’t always been this lucky. The forecast has been brutal for the past few years with plenty of rain. The weather was so terrible for a number of years that there was a lot of talk about cancelling trick or treating through many Metro Detroit communities. But, we’ve been blessed with at least somewhat decent Halloween weather since 2019.
Regardless off weather, make sure to know the trick or treat hours for your community. I’ve listed them below. Some communities don’t have concrete trick or treat hours and leave trick or treating to the discretion of those who pass out candy on Halloween. Some communities provide “recommended hours” for Halloween trick or treating and some provide a weather siren to kick off the festivities and another weather siren to commence the fun.
IF the Metro Detroit Halloween Trick or Treat weather is poor, you can always trick or treat indoors. Popular in the 80s and early 90s, some malls and stores STILL offer indoor trick or treating. Below is a list of Mall / Indoor trick or treating in Metro Detroit / SE Michigan. Indoor trick or treating began as a shopping mall gimmick in the 80’s to draw families to the mall on Halloween and gained popularity as parents sought safe venues to take the kids trick or treating in an era with many poisoned candy scares.
Mall trick or treating is a great option for parents of little ones for a few reasons. Kids & toddlers don’t have to stumble around in the darkness of night, go to strangers houses, or worry about a costume mishap or a fall from porch steps. Plus, the weather is always a comfortable 72 degrees!
